Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bonesProverbs 16:24
Ah! Pleasant words . . . sweet as honeycomb. Do you ever feel like you’re missing the honeycomb? Have you ever tasted the sweetness of the honeycomb. In Proverbs 24:13, states to eat the honey, because it is good. Honey has many benefits for the body since it is an antioxidant. Antioxidants can help lower blood pressure as well as lower triglycerides. Honey is also said to have healing properties to heal wounds and burns. A little honey can go a long way to healing our mind when we use pleasant words. Our mind is linked to our heart.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.Proverbs 4:23
Studies in science have shown that there are connections from the brain to the heart. The mind response to a threatening situation brings on stress where the body response is to increase blood pressure, heart rate, and perspiration. If the body is under constant stress, this puts the body at risk to side effects such as heart disease. Words can be toxic to the human soul and produce negative results. That is why it is important to keep our heart with all diligence. In otherwards, keep your heart pure from all mischief and wicked imaginations.
No one should have to endure constant put-down of negative statements or humiliating remarks. Yet, it seems to flow out of the mouth like water. This kind of water is not pure or clean, but dirty. In the early 1800’s washing out the mouth with soap was punishment for profanity and lying. Today, profanity and lying seem to be almost commonplace. Profanity and lying lead to selfish desires in getting what a person wants. It also causes frequent interpersonal relationship problems. Sometimes we have to limit our exposure from people who have negative behavior so we do not become like them, which at times can be easy to do by just giving in. Let’s remember that the Bible states that it is the wicked with a proud countenance whose ways are always grievous, and his tongue is full of cursing and deceit and fraud [see Psalms 10:7].
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”Proverb 18:21
Let us be careful of what fruit we are eating when it comes to the power of the tongue. Words can hurt and destroy an individual, or it can bring love and healing to an individual. Do not become ensnared by someone’s tongue. Stand back and take note of where or what is causing the outlash of the tongue. Gently rebuke words that are negative and withhold your own tongue from speaking evil. Proverb 21:23 states, “Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.” That is the key to the tongue, to keep our soul from troubles. To use our tongue for good with pleasant words, goes a long way towards healing our mind and body.
Honesty, forgiveness, and liberty are found in Jesus because He bridged the gap of cleansing our heart towards purity, so we may have an open door to the Heavenly Father. We cannot come to the Heavenly Father without the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Through Jesus we have deliverance, safety, healing, and forgiveness. There is no other name under heaven that we can be saved accept through Jesus Christ. When we accept that Jesus died for our sins, and that God raised Jesus from the dead, we have the answer to becoming whole in our body and mind.
They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”Mark 2:17
Are you in need of a physician? If so, Jesus is the physician. It is just a matter of believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ. What is the gospel of Jesus Christ? It is the work of Jesus on the cross and Jesus‘ resurrection from the dead that brings reconciliation between man and God. This is “Good News.” It is Jesus that healed every sickness and every disease among the people. Can you be healed today? The answer is yes. Any kind of healing you need is available through the cross of Christ.
Who his own self bares our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”1 Peter 2:24
Jesus himself bore our sins on the cross and by the stripes He has received, He has bought healing to every human being. This is Good News! We need to hear good news for it is the sweet words that will bring healing to our souls and health to our bones. Just listen to the words of David.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they then gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalms 19:7-10
Remember the law of the Lord is to take heed of the words written in the bible. We must believe in order to be saved. We must believe in order to receive healing. “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he that keepeth his way preserves his soul,” Proverbs 16:17. Are you keeping your way to preserving your soul? Are you keeping the peace with pleasant words? Take stock of your heart and make sure that your tongue is not full of cursing and deceit and fraud. The fulfillment of the law of God is love. The apostle Paul stated, “Love worketh no ill to its neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law,” [see Romans 13:10]. May we keep our tongues from toxic words and have compassion on those around us. May the Lord’s spirit change our heart and bring healing to all who are in need of a physician.
Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
May I be like you Lord with pleasant words flowing out of my mouth. Let me eat the good fruit it will produce. Peace and health to the bones.
