The Light of the knowledge of the Glory of God

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6

The light of the knowledge of the Glory of God is through Jesus Christ. It is in the face of Jesus Christ. This is the light that shines in darkness. Light came into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil [John 3:19]. John, the son of Zebedee said that Jesus is the true Light who lights everyone that is born into this world [Gospel of John 1:9]. God commanded the light to shine out of darkness in order that we may see the face of Jesus Christ. Light is divided from the darkness.

All things are reproved by the light of the Lord [see Ephesians 5:13]. A Christian does not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, and they do not reward evil for good. Proverbs 17:13 states “whoso rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.” It is the light of the glorious gospel of Christ that saves us from the darkness of this world. As Christians we no longer continue in the unfruitful works of darkness. We walk in the light as He is in the Light, for Christ is the image of God.
