Be not deceived; God is not mocked

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Galatians 6:7

The apostle Paul is making a statement to the Galatians to not make the mistake of thinking that one can mock God in their own achievements. In otherwards, one cannot ridicule or belittle God in what they decide to do themselves. Whatsoever it is, is what a man sows in life. This is what he will also reap. Whether for good or bad. I am amazed at what I see in the world today. I hear the statement “as it was in the days of Noah,” and everyone shakes their head in agreement. However, we must take note that whatever a man or woman sows today, that is what they will reap. The word [reap] is the harvest in the field. This is a new way of understanding its meaning. What kind of harvest is man reaping? What is the end result to what you are reaping? We have heard the following scripture mentioned from the pulpit:

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

1 Timothy 6:10

When we make money our focus in life, we fall into coveting. Our focus is on the thing we desire instead of focusing on eternal life through Jesus. Our focus becomes our strong desire. When it is achieved, it brings pride, and we begin to exalt our own achievements. We may ask ourselves how God can know anything and where is the knowledge of God? At this point we have lost touch with God and have gone a different way. What does the apostle Paul have to say about this?

“For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceived himself.”

Galatians 6:3

As soon as you think you are something, you have deceived yourself. Why? Because you have fallen like Satan who also thought he was above God and like God. God wants you to see the difference between the reaping process of what you will reap. God wants you to be at peace in what you are sowing and reaping. What kind of harvest are you producing in your life? God wants you to be a new creation in Christ Jesus. That we should prosper as our soul prospers and that we should be in good health. What are we sowing today in your life? This is what we should question daily. Let us continually sow good through the Spirit of Christ.

“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

Galatians 6:8

If we sow towards our flesh or desires, we will reap corruption, but if we sow to the Spirit, we will reap life everlasting. If we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh [see Galatians 5:16]. This is our sanctification which is through the Spirit. This is the process of being purified. The process of resting in the Lord. The process of bringing our burdens to the Lord.

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

Psalms 55:22

The new life we have in Christ is staying the course in faith. Let us bring our own weaknesses to the Lord. Let us confess Lord, I cannot do it, but you can Lord. Your grace is sufficient [see 2 Corinthians 12:9]. Bring your burdens to the Lord and without a doubt our God will sustain you. God will strengthen your walk and give you wisdom. You do not have to carry a heavy load anymore. Peter tells us to cast our care upon the Lord [see 1 Peter 5:7]. We must believe that God will supply all our needs. Our reaping is dependent upon what we desire the most. Make Jesus your desire and all these things will be added unto you [see Matthew 6:32]. Food, clothing, house, etc. God knows you have need of these things. Believe, and he will supply all your needs. Study to show that you are approved by God. A workman who is not ashamed [see 2 Timothy 2:15]. When you walk in the Spirit of Christ, you will reap everlasting life and not corruption. Stay the course and when opportunity arises do good unto all men, for God is not mocked.
