They prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
Jeremaiah 29:9
They have prophesy falsely in the name of the Lord. These messengers to the Jews. Prophets that were not prophets. These false prophets prophesied a “false vision and divination,” [see Jeremiah 14:14]. Elders along with prophets who were carried away captives into Babylon. We should be careful to what we listen to and not be carried away into captivity. Prophets are to speak the divine revelation or communication of God’s will. In otherwards, they must know what God’s will is. The moral and spiritual significance of God’s will for all people.
To what are we prophesying to? Is it not the power or the glory of God? That light should shine in a dark place. What kind of vision do we seek. A vision should be a supernatural revelation given by God to communicate His will, direction, or future plans to individuals. There are many kinds of voices in the world, but not all are divine revelations given by God. We are to test the spirit of the prophet.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
1 John 4:1
These prophets deny who Christ is [the son of God come in the flesh]. They also deny Christ resurrection. Resurrection is restoring a dead person to life. Resurrection is eternal life. This we have through Christ. We are born again into His righteousness. There are distinguishing characteristics of a Christian, and practicing sin is not one of them. What did John say in chapter three? “He that committeth sin is of the devil.” [1John 3:8]. This was the purpose that the Son of God was manifested, that “he might destroy the works of the devil.”
This is the love of God to take us out of captivity whereby Satan has deceived us. Let us consider the Lord’s message that was sent to those who were held captive in Babylon. The Lord will visit them and perform His good word towards them in returning back. Furthermore, He had this to say to them.
““For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Thoughts of peace, and not of evil. An expected end, to give you a future and hope. We have a future in God, and our hope is in the Lord. Listen to what the apostle Paul told the Romans.
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
Romans 15:13
Let us all believe that we may also abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a lively hope we have through the power of the Holy Spirit whereby we can exclaim, “greater is he that is in us, than he that is in the world,” [see 1 John 4:4]. This is an experience we have when we have passed through from death to life. Let not our heart condemn us, do we not have confidence in God? Is not our confession that Jesus is the Son of God, and that God dwells in Jesus? Yes, this is our confession, this is our testimony. We must be brought out of captivity. Bondage to the things of this world such as drugs, alcohol, envy, hatred, jealousy, lying, stealing, etc. These things destroy who we are as humans. It is Christ who through the Holy Spirit that will change us through repentance that is done through prayer. This is a genuine conversion of our heart towards sin into the glorious love of God.
The manifestation of Christ through the Holy Spirit gives us an expected end. It gives us an identity based upon who Christ is. We shall be like Him John tells us and every person who has this hope is purified. [see 1 John 3:3]. If you have heard any other kind of message, it is not of God. The message is through Jesus Christ who had no sin, yet He bored our sins in his own body on the tree that we should live in righteousness. [see 1 Peter 2:24]. We are righteous because of what Jesus did. Jesus is our vision. Let us stay true to the word of God. Let us come out of captivity by repenting and come into His marvelous light of Love.
