Have You Obtained Salvation?

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,”

1 Thessalonians 5:9

Have you obtained salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ? Many may be confused as to the truth of the reality of what being saved is. The terminology used such as “Have you accepted Christ,” may have watered down the true meaning of salvation. To accept is to take or receive something. We must question what we are taking and receiving? Believe on the other hand is to accept something as the truth. Salvation is more than just receiving something. Salvation is repentance and faith. One cannot accept something without repentance. A.W. Tozer said, “easy acceptance” has been fatal to millions of people who may have stopped short in matters of faith and obedience,” [see the book titled, “Discipleship: What It Truly Means to Be a Christian–Collected Insights from A. W. Tozer”]. Tozer called this a “fleeting formality of “accepting Christ,” and a great, great number of them are still not saved,” [A. W. Tozer. Discipleship: What It Truly Means to Be a Christian]. Anyone can accept Christ as a prophet, or a miracle worker without any remorse of their own sins. There is no real change in that individual’s heart.

Repentance is the complete turnaround from the bondage of sin and death to new life in Christ Jesus. Repentance is to change your mind from going your own way to going a new way under the authority of God. We repent as sinners, for we have transgress the commandment of the law of God. Sin is disobedience from God’s will and word. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God [see Romans 3:23].

“For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:20-23

How can you receive the gift of God without dealing with the wages of sin in your own life. A person may give intellectual consent without committing his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. What did the apostle Paul say about being saved.

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:9-10

Have you confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ? In Romans chapter ten verses 9 to 10, Paul states that believe in the heart and confession is made unto salvation. It isn’t just confession or believe, it is both confession and to believe. It is godly sorrow that works repentance to salvation [see 2 Corinthians 7:10]. Many do not count the cost of discipleship as is written in Matthew 10:24-33. Look carefully at verses 32 and 33.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 10:32-33

The gate is a narrow gate and not a wide one when it comes to salvation. Jesus said we will know them by their fruits. Are you doing the will of the father? Is your salvation from confession of your sins and believe in what Jesus did for you on the cross? Listen carefully and know for sure within your own heart that you have salvation. Remember to get, acquire, and be secure in your salvation. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Make sure of your confession of sin and believe in Jesus Christ and His resurrection from the dead.

Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 7:21

God has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. His Love for us is a sure thing and that love will enter our heart as we yield ourselves to Him for our salvation.
