When the Spirit Comes

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” John 16:8

When the Holy Spirit comes what will He do? Jesus said that the comforter will not come unless He departs. Jesus departed from the earth and now He sends the Holy Spirit to reprove the world of sin, righteousness and of judgment. In the Gospel of John chapter 16, Jesus spells out the three-fold ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth about sin, righteousness and judgment. Look at verse eleven were Jesus states the prince of this world is judged. Let us remember that the prince of this world is Satan. Satan is organizing those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus. Satan uses principles of force, greed, and selfishness. The Spirit comes to reprove the world of force, greed, and selfishness and our righteousness comes only from the Lord Jesus himself, who is the final sacrifice for humanity’s sin.
